Module 3 - Material Selection Abstract
In this module the students will conduct material selection with a goal of reducing the environmental impact of a product while also meeting functional requirements and reducing material costs. Office furniture is presented as a case study, while the students apply the following techniques, to the product chosen at the beginning of the class
- Weighted property index (WPI) method
- Decision matrixes
- Pair-wise comparison
- Saaty’s Scale analysis
- Application of WPI
- Performance Indices
- Sensitivity analysis
- Cambridge Educational Software (CES Software)
